Observe the things around you

Hi guys, this will be the first post I'll be posting here. Not that I want to start with a post with some design observations I've done over the weekend, but, this blog entry are to be submitted by today. Hence, I've got no time to waste. Okay... so here it goes.

These are the 3 designs that I feel have a combination of creativity, quality and integrity. You may agree or disagree with me. I find it's interesting to share though.

1. Pill containers
come in different shape and sizes. Users are usually people that are always on the go. Thus, it should be portable and compact. I've come across a variety of pills containers, and they all look amusingly the 'same'. Not until I saw this at one of my friend's house one day:

Not only it serves the purpose of being portable; it helps her to keep track her daily dosage of vitamins taken. This could also be used to store jewelry too. You can have different earrings/ear stud place in the small compartments. This helps uncluttered the mess that you have compile and better organized your dressing table.

I love how simple it's! Why didn't I think of that?

Oh and there's no right or wrong on how you're going to use this container as, it's personal!

Seven-day week

Ha! This certainly reminds me of a note that I’ve read on funcage.com! Like funcage.com at facebook if you haven't done so!

Oops! ;P
2. Single Ellipse
Instruction written on board: Stand on the pedals with both feet, hold the handles tight and move hands forward and backward. Jumping on the pedal is forbidden.

What I'm going to show you now is a fitness corner which is meant for senior citizens. It's a fitness corner project done by Hong Kah Town Council.

Single Ellipse

I understand this is a fitness corner for senior citizens, but I can't see any there. Maybe they're only there in the morning. Don't mind about that.

This fitness corner is creative and really useful.

Why do I think is creative?
Firstly, have you seen this equipment at the gym before?

This baby here looks complicated and expensive ain't it? Single Ellipse work just like that. Comon', I'm not trying to exaggerate, but it looks just like Vario. Of course, I know there's many other functions that Single Ellipse lack off as compared. Okay, let's put it this way: It's the simplified version of Vario. Not good enough? All right... It's the simplified-prototype version of Vario.

Sometimes things are good to be back to basic. Especially for the elderly, we need to break things down for them. It looks reasonably safe, but... maybe not for them:

Children mis-used the facility. It looks exactly like a children playground! Now I know why some of the equipments there were damaged.

3. Wii controller

You got to give Nintendo the credit. This controller don't look like any other game controller that I've play with. It somehow look like a television remote. This is a powerful game controlling motion sensing master piece. You can either play it vertically for games like wii Sports or play it horizontally for old school video games like Mario.

There's also a speaker at the controller for the use of certain game. The wii remote jacket and the wrist strap are for better grip.

Nintendo did not stop here, it went beyond what a controller does. This controller can be inserted into:

wii steering wheel for the mario kart

and Guitar hero 3

How cool is that? The designer of the controller have consider every aspect, from the game-play to the users. It's ingenious!
